Academic and clinical journey
I graduated from high school with honors and began my medical education at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 1990.
On 31.7.1996, I graduated seventh in my class and earned the right to begin specialty training at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology through the Medical Specialty Examination.
During my residency, I established the electrophysiology laboratory within Erciyes University and prepared my thesis in this field.
In 2002, the title of my thesis was “Evaluation of ganglion cell layer and macular functions in myopic patients using the pattern electroretinography method.”
After completing my specialization, I continued working at Erciyes University as a lecturer.
I carried out my work in medical retina, vitreoretinal surgery, and ocular electrophysiology.
To further improve my experience in retina, I worked for three months in 2003 at the Retina Unit of Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA).
To further expand my knowledge and experience in retinal diseases, I worked as an observer in 2006 under Prof. Anita Leys at the Ophthalmology Department of Katholic University of Leuven in Belgium.
